A Part of Growing Up

“Ako ang kakatok, ikaw ang magsasabi sa teacher ha?” Fear. Deceiving fear. I believe that there are three reasons why people fail to do things: (1) they have insufficient information, (2) they are not in the condition to do such, or (3) they do not have the willingness. Just this Tuesday (27), I felt publicly humiliated. As I stood postured, waiting until the speech ceases, I was planning to approach and present again my works. If I only knew that the ‘recite’ means ‘discussing the margins, returns, placement and length of the letter’ (you know the subject), I would not have been shouted. But I had no second chance. And how was I to know? It has always been unfair for the first. Good thing none of my classmates cracked a joke from that incident. So, I was in Reason #1. It does not matter much what reason I was. I just realized that there are factors which affect someone’s attitude. Likewise, people have strengths and weaknesses. Those strengths are assets; they are nice things which someone can nurture and use for benefit. Weak points, on the other hand, are matters which if you cannot defy or overcome, you just need to cope with it. Sometimes, common bonds between people are their common situations, common problems, and common fears. Mistakes are inevitable. They are parts of growing up. Loonie said in his song Tao Lang: "Kung wala ka pang mali, wala ka pang nagagawa." Fear hinders progress and slows down motion. It's better that the increase is gradual but consistent, than comfortable but interrupted. You need to define your goals, if one of them is satisfying the expectations of other people from you. Many are afraid of comparison. It brings so much pressure. If everyone is uniquely made, then why find something that someone does not really possess? Everyone has his own pen to write his own script. That is why we have a Great Copyreader, who provides the paper and lets the people write their own stories, and time after time edits and corrects the mistakes so that when the pen ran out of ink, He can bind the paper with other papers to create His collection of unique and articles with lots of moral lessons. Consequently, more people are afraid of pressure. In Physics, to lessen the pressure is to vary either the force or the area when one is given constant. When a lot of people expects high thing upon you, and you say you are pressured, that means either you consider everything you feel as irresistible forces even if they are not, or you do not extend yourself given that the force cannot be lessened. Most of the time, you are the ones who need to adjust, not the people surrounding you. The worst thing is failure. Failure is depriving; failure is such a powerful thing. It can BLIND. Fear is a more disparaging spirit, for it is the mother of all frustration. You failed because you did not get it right. You failed you followed others. You failed because you followed yourself. You failed because you do not know. You failed because you were not ready. Trace the reason, it would be because you are afraid to fail. In my view, frustration is a concept that varies among people. Even if an occurrence is negative, if it does not affect you, it is not your frustration. Therefore, the whole thing relies in you. Friend, do not be afraid to commit mistakes. If a bird does not stop flying upward, where would it go? Heaven? Everything falls back to the ground. Even the clouds drop the very light vapor when they get heavy enough. If there is no need for decline, why did Rene Descartes put a negative number line in the Cartesian plane? The best are hidden in mistakes, because we uncover them ourselves. It has a greater impact. The acceptance is within you. There are a lot of lessons which bloom in one experience; we only need to be aware of them.

This morning when I woke up, I found a rat floating in the bucket in the CR.
